Before we post a few of the most amazing Make A Blanket Day photos, we want to take this opportunity to thank the many businesses in the Auburn/Opelika community that helped make our first annual event a roaring success. If you find yourself in one of these establishments in the near future, please let them know how much their support helped us spread the word about the mission of Project Linus and how much it means to the children in need here in Lee County.

We are just two weeks away from Make A Blanket Day and the excitement is hardly containable. If you have not made plans to join us, please consider the date. Everyone is welcome to come and spend an hour or the whole day working on blankets for the children of Lee County and Southeastern Alabama. We really hope to see you there!!
It is official, Aubie will be joining us for Make A Blanket Day on February 18th to help make blankets for children in Lee County and Southeastern Alabama. He is due to arrive around 1:30 pm and should be with us for 45 minutes, or so, before he has to move on to another important engagement.
Come help Aubie make blankets for the kids!
Six weeks after the first clue was released and I am finally starting to piece this mystery quilt top. Next week is the final clue, so I better get moving. For those of you who have not purchased the pattern yet, please feel free to visit ProjectLinus.org to register and receive the clues.
There is still plenty of time to make the Gracie’s Get Well Garden quilt and be eligible for the great prizes we are giving away at our Make A Blanket Day next year in February. ALL the proceeds from your $15 pattern purchase stay here in Lee County to help with our local chapter needs. Be sure to select Lee County, AL as your local chapter when purchasing the pattern from the site.
Here is what Clue #1 looks like:
Why has it been so quiet around here lately? I’ve been hard at work finishing up this raffle quilt for 2017 Make A Blanket Day, that is why. If you would like to see it in person, we will have it on display at Cornerstone Church’s Trunk or Treat on October 30th and elsewhere in the community between now and February 18th when one lucky winner will take it home. I will post updates here about where it will be displayed as places come available.
Tickets are $1 each and all the proceeds go to Project Linus of Lee County. These funds stay right here in our community and we truly appreciate every dollar. If you would like to purchase tickets now, just fill out the contact form below and tell me how many you would like me to set aside for you in the comments section. I will be carrying the tickets with me from now until February, so pay me when you find me and I will give you your tickets. Good luck!!
Last week, we had the opportunity to deliver blankets to two different homes that house children in transitional situations. The first was a home for older girls, high school age, and the second was providing shelter to some kiddos 8 years and under. We were blessed with the rare opportunity to see the children at both houses select their blankets from the stacks that we delivered and were doubly blessed when the operators of both homes allowed us to photograph the excitement. Here are some of the best shots of the day. The looks on their faces says it all. This is what this ministry is all about.
The registration for the Gracie’s Get Well Challenge quilt is now open. You can go to the Project Linus site for more information and to register. The first portion of the pattern will be released on September 10th.
PLEASE be sure to state Lee County, AL as your chapter, as the entire $15 participation fee will come back to our local chapter for use in our community by our local Project Linus chapter.
We are looking forward to seeing all the beautiful and creative quilts that come from this pattern challenge. We will be opening up the Facebook page so you can post progress photos, if you would like to do so.
Finally, don’t forget that there are extra door prize tickets to be had for Make A Blanket Day in February for those who participate in this challenge. See the Facebook page or previous posts on this blog for more details.
